You Don't Need One More Supplement

Supplements are a slippery slope. 

 

I love them, but they have a purpose and they shouldn't be dispensed without intention. 

 

 

Recently, I have come across many holistic minded practitioners, who are using supplements like prescriptions. 

 

 

I was on the back end of this with my own naturopath, and it opened my eyes to how supplements should and shouldn't be used. 

 

 

She diagnosed me with a flare of Epstein-Barr virus and gave me a slew of supplements and told me to eat more (I was gaining weight and yet not hungry ever, so weird). 

 

 

I lived on these supplements for months early into the COVID lockdowns and then I just got lazy about restocking them. 

 

 

I had felt better on them, and when I went off, I slowly started to deteriorate again. 

 

 

That's when I realized I needed to get to the root of the EBV flare. 

 

 

There were many, causes including fasting incorrectly, 5am workouts without eating after, and restricting food. 

 

 

I wrecked my metabolism. 

 

 

It took several years for me to put the pieces back together. Only to hit 40.5yo and realize I hadn't quite done the job. 

 

 

My metabolism had been "hanging on", but once hormones began to change, it felt like my body had thrown in the towel. 

 

 

Once again, I had to figure out the cause. 

 

 

Supplements were part of my journey, and still are, but I don't rely on them and I use them very strategically. 

 

 

I want the same for you. 

 

 

You likely don't "NEED" another supplement to "get healthy" or solve the mystery behind your lab results. 

 

 

There is an underlying root issue and it can be found by looking at your metabolic health. 

 

 

Without addressing that FIRST, your supplements are just wasted money. 

 

 

They will be a bandaid, not a longer term solution. 

 

 

A long term solution must include looking at your metabolism, your diet, and your stress. Because all of these affect our hormones, which is a major player in our health as we get older.
